On February 2nd, 2014, the ultimate match up for a northwestern football fan will take place. Our very own Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos will be playing in the 48th Super Bowl this year.
The stakes are very high for both teams. The Seahawks have been to a Super Bowl before, but never won one before, but Russell Wilson is looking to change that. On the other end of the spectrum, the Broncos have never been to a Super Bowl since 1999, and Peyton Manning is looking to bring home to the Lombardi Trophy once again.
An interesting coincidence is that there are no competitors from the Eastern or Midwestern United States. That hasn’t seen since 1995. Both of the teams have the same regular season record of 13-3 which are the two highest records in the NFL. this year. Even experts are having trouble foreseeing a winner. The Seahawks could win with their spectacular defense and their healthy dose of everybody. The Broncos could win with their amazing wide receivers and Peyton Manning’s amazing ability to march down the field.
Weather is also a factor in this competition, and it can affect both teams. If it is raining, that’s no problem for Seattle since it’s also known as the rainy city, but they may have trouble in the snow. Peyton Manning might be phased by bad weather, since he spent most of his career in a domed stadium. Snow is definitely a possibility for Super Sunday.
There is not much that can be predicted about this Super Bowl, except it will be an absolute clash of football titans. Be sure to tune in and watch on Fox at 3:25 PM on Feb. 2, 2014.
