This week has been a very sad one on our local reservation. On Sunday, February second,  a tragedy occurred. Jose Reyes and his little sister Elena, followed their puppy out onto an iced over pond near their home in Plummer. The two had fallen through the pond and were trapped. Their grandmother had done all she could to save them. She was rushed to the hospital and treated for hypothermia. Two amazing kids were lost that day. Staff at Lakeside Elementary shared this terrible news with students yesterday. With less than 600 kids in the entire school district, you can guarantee that this has taken a huge toll on students, staff, and the overall community. A grief counselor will be at the school for the remainder of the week. Thoughts are being sent from all around in regards to this tragic event.
