A Healthier Subway

Everybody enjoys munching down on a famous $5 footlong sandwich from Subway. However, the experience may be about to get even better. The company is now pulling a chemical, azodicarbonamide, out of their bread. Azodicarbonamide has been FDA & USDA approved, and is used by commercial bakers to strengthen their dough, although it has not been tested very thoroughly. This chemical is found in other items such as yoga mats and shoe soles in order to add elasticity. Other fast-food chains such as McDonalds, Starbucks, and Arby’s use the chemical in their foods as well. Subway hopes to improve their sandwich bread by cutting the substance out of the recipe.
