CDA Teacher Pleads “Not Guilty”

32 year-old Daniel Taylor, public school teacher in Coeur d’Alene, pled not guilty for sex crimes involving a child during his trial on Wednesday. Taylor was initially facing three felonies before two of them were dropped and an agreement was made to amend the single lewd conduct charge against him. “The amended charge incorporates all the alleged conduct in one charge that carries a potential life sentence,” said Kootenai County Prosecutor, Barry McHugh. The victim’s mother reported the incident on December 5, claiming that her daughter, who is not 7, was allegedly raped while taking a shower with Taylor in the fall of 2012. Taylor is now on paid administrative leave by the Coeur d’Alene School District. The alleged incident did not occur with a student or on school property. Taylor’s attorney stated that his jury trial, which has yet to be scheduled, should occur in approximately 4 days.
