The Lake City High School Business Professionals of America (also known as BPA) chapter, recently traveled down to Boise to compete in the State Leadership Conference. The group of twenty-six students left early Wednesday, and began the long trek down to Boise. Their first goal while down in Boise: have fun. The students visited Wahooz, a local family-fun center, which is similar to our Triple Play. It was a much needed change to relax and have fun after the bus ride.
The next day was all business. To begin the first day of the conference, the Lake City chapter visited the Idaho State Capitol building, and took turns presenting their individual and team events. Such events included: prepared speech, extemporaneous speech, graphic design promotion, Website design team, video production team, and small business management team. This extra practice gave the students a chance to feel more comfortable with each other, as well as with their presentation.
Throughout the two days of the conference, many competitive events, leadership sessions, and open events took place, and on Friday night, the BPA members finally had another chance to relax and have fun. There were many other fun activities such as a dance, bowling, bounce houses, and karaoke. BPA State was a life-changing and amazing experience” — Robert Shultz
The last day of the conference was when all the hard work would be rewarded, and the eager students would find out how they did in their competitive events ( if they would be receiving the opportunity to travel to the National Leadership Conference in Indianapolis. The Lake City chapter qualified seven members to go to the National Leadership Conference. These seven students were Parker Piedmont (Website Design Team), Zack Holbrook (Visual Basic, Website Design Team), Andy Jakubek (Website Design Team), Madi Rowley (Computer Network Technology, Website Design Team), Hannah Seurynck (Human Resource Management, Admin Support Team), Kassidy Bane (Integrated Office Applications, Admin Support Team) , and Rachael Hogan (Interview Skills). Congrats to all Lake City BPA members who competed!
