Troubles With Night School

LC Tardy passes.

Every year’s the same, Tuesday through Thursday school starts at 7:40 am and Monday’s at 8:40. Being in a school with over sixteen hundred students, tardies are very popular. For some the reason may be as simple as sleeping in, and for others it may be more complex. Mornings are hard for most people, but should that give reason to hold kids after school?

It seems to be unfair that when students walk through a classroom as or even a minute after the bell, they are marked tardy. It appears to us students that most teachers use the first ten to even fifteen minutes of class just preparing for the lesson.  If the class is not in full swing, then a student should not be counted tardy. “Tardies shouldn’t be punished, as long as the kids are in class before the lecture starts it shouldn’t matter.” states sophomore Makenna T.

On the flip side, if a student is constantly tardy or absent, not getting their work done, or doing poorly in class seems like a very good reason to punish a student by giving them a night school. A night school should provide students with help in the needed subjects, not just have them sit there doing nothing.

All in all, there are pros and cons by giving kids a night school, but everyone has their own opinion on it. For some it might help

and others it might not.
