Things to do in the Coeur d’Alene Area

Coeur d’Alene, Idaho though, a small city with an estimated population of 45,579 people as according to city-data.com is filled with activities and events at all times of the years. Located just on the north shore of Lake Coeur d’Alene, it makes a great place to fish and was even ranked #11 in the country among best bass fisheries by Bassmaster Magazine This Week. Another notable attraction here in Coeur d’Alene is the resort. The resort, located in downtown Coeur d’Alene, has all kinds of activities ranging from shopping, dining, and golfing. Golf Digest was even quoted saying “The Coeur d’Alene is what every resort should be. It’s not just upscale, it’s posh. You aren’t just pampered here, you’re spoiled. It’s not just an escape, it’s an experience…”

During the summer, Coeur d’Alene is also known for hosting one of the biggest triathlon events called IRONMAN. This event attracts many people from out of state to not only compete, but also to watch. IRONMAN starts out by having the competitors swim in Lake Coeur d’Alene where they then bike rural North Idaho before eventually finishing with a run. As well as the triathlon event that takes place during the summer here in Coeur d’Alene, another attraction that draws people to the area is Silverwood, the Pacific Northwest’s largest theme park. Silverwood has many different rides that range from thrill rides, fun-for-all rides, and kid’s ride. In 2012 Silverwood’s thrill ride, Aftershock  was voted Top Hanging Coaster by Travel Channel. With all these events and activities that take place in Coeur d’Alene it’s no wonder it was mentioned Patricia Schultz’s book “1,000 Places to See Before You Die” and was ranked number one as best mountain town in America by World Property Journal.
