The Student Council kids here at Lake City High School volunteered at the local Red Robin for the 9th annual “Tip A Cop” event last Saturday, October 25th. This event was partnered up with local law enforcement to raise money for the Special Olympics in Idaho. It is part of a nationwide event for a local benefit.

“Deputies from the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office, cadets from North Idaho College’s Basic Patrol Academy and students from Lake City High School and Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy participated,” the Sheriff’s office thanked everyone involved in the success Tuesday morning. Over $3,300 was made at the event. “Law enforcement officers from around the world have been and continue to be ‘The Guardians of the Flame’ for Special Olympics,” stated the release that was made Tuesday. They were raising money to go to Moscow, Idaho for the Special Olympics event. Students would go from table to table handing out packets that gave explanations for the event.

“I thought it was fun, enjoyable and I love giving back to the community, I would definitely partake in this fundraiser again,” said junior Travis Young. This was all for a great cause, and we thank the student council for helping out.
