NIC hosted the second annual special needs basketball game on October 23.Two games were held in the event, one that started at 5:30 and another at 7:00.
This game gave the chance for special needs children to experience what it’s like during a big college basketball game.
Cal DeHaas, NIC instructor and event organizer, said, “This event brings so much joy to the hearts of these special needs children.” Giving them the chance to feel all the bright lights and excitement made them all so happy!
I asked Stella Kirsch, sophomore at Lake City, what she thought of the event, and she said, “I thought it was full of great energy, and and it made me happy to see the smiles on their faces!” No one who attended could have been in a bad mood in that room with all the positive energy. Kirsch also said, “I was happy to see the NIC basketball players get into the game and get excited for all the kids.” Not only were the basketball players excited and into the game, but they also helped the kids dunk!
The Special Needs Basketball Extravaganza was sponsored by Real Life Ministries and NIC. Thank you to everyone who participated in the Extravaganza and filled all the kids’ hearts with joy!
