“American Horror Story: Freak Show” is a television series set in Jupiter, Florida during 1952, displaying the internal and external conflicts of America’s last remaining freak shows. The series starts out showcasing conjoined twins Bette and Dot Tattler, who is played by Sarah Paulson. They are originally in the hospital after being found injured along with their murdered mother by a milkman. Elsa Mars, played by Jessica Lange, quickly hears the news of their existence and pays them a visit to the hospital, in order to try and recruit them into her freak show. The conjoined twins unsurely agree and join the rankings of other American freaks such as Jimmy Darling, a boy with syndactyly, played by Evan Peters, and his mother, Ethel Darling, a bearded lady, played by Kathy Bates. During the night of Bette and Dot Tattler’s arrival, a detective shows up and begins questioning the twins, before placing them under arrest for the murder of their mother. As he is arresting the twins, he makes the comment of closing down the freak show, and calls them all freaks. This angers Jimmy and causes him to lash out and kill the detective. Later on, the conjoined twins put on their first show for two of the attendees, Gloria Mott, played by Frances Conroy, and her son Dandy, played by Finn Wittrock.  Dandy persuades Elsa to try and sell the twins at a price of $15,000, but she refuses, and later reveals that her purpose in bringing the twins was to try and gain more attention to the show. “American Horror Story” has been ranked #1 most popular television series in America by IMDB and James Poniewozik, from Time was quoted saying “There’s enough talent and intensity here for me to step behind the tent flap, to see if all this can cohere into something super freaky.”
