Dating during the teen years is fun, you may even meet your match. But they can be dangerous, Nearly 1.5 million high school students nationwide experience physical abuse from a dating partner in a single year. Even though you may be “in love,” people have feelings, and those feelings often get hurt. On average, one in every ten high school couples have an abusive relationship. This needs to change.
The first step of making this month happen is recognizing that teen dating violence is all around us. This month is about letting the people around us know what’s going on and how to fix it, as well as how to prevent it. One way to fix this problem is too notice the signs. Signs include overly controlling talks on the phone, strongholds on his/her arms in the hall when walking, and controlling what the partner does, says, and who he or she talks too.
Teen Awareness month is month that everyone needs to take part in, for in order to stop this, everyone needs to recognize it happens and do something about it, All you need to do is report it to an adult or someone you trust so that the problem can be taken care of. If this has personally ever happened to you, get out of the relationship, because you deserve so much more!
