Driving after four beers is just as dangerous as texting while driving, and Allstate is on a mission to bring awareness and stop teens from driving distracted. That’s what their “X The Text” project is all about.
Allstate announced, “If 12 jumbo jets full of kids crashed each year, something would be done about it, and the fact is that’s how many we’re losing in auto accidents.” To represent the idea of the jumbo jets they came up with the paper airplane idea, students were able to purchase paper airplanes the week before and at the game.

During halftime at the Lake City High School VS. Post Falls High School basketball game, Allstate set up three trash cans as targets for students to throw their paper airplanes in to. Each trash can was marked with different dollar amounts ranging from $100 to $250. The students, and everyone else who purchased an airplane, were given two minutes to throw all their airplanes into the trash cans.

When I asked Bekah Zufelt, a student who attended the basketball game, what she thought of the airplanes she said, “I thought it was a really cool, and fun idea and was excited when my friend won 100 bucks for making it in the trashcan.” Altogether it was a fun experience and raised a lot of awareness about texting and driving.
