There are many fun, and entertaining movies coming out this next year in the movie theaters. They are all different genres of movies like action, comedy, animation, and thrillers. There are many options of different types of movies, and if you are interested in fun fantasy/animation types of movies this is one for you.

The movie Dumbo as we all know was originally an animated film made in 1994 by Walt Disney Productions. Now there is a lively one coming March 29, 2019 directed by Tim Burton, and written by Ehren Kruger. This film is inspired by the original one, but has some different qualities as well. This movie is about a young little elephant whose ears are too big for him which then enables him to fly. With this ability he joins a circus, but then finds out that there may be some darks secrets hidden behind the shiny veneer. This film also has many famous actors, and actresses like Eva Green, Colin Farrell, Michael Keaton, and Danny De Vito. If you are interested don’t hesitate to view the trailer, and see this movie in March. I spoke to Maddie Smith, a sophomore at Lake City, about what film she would like to see this coming year and she said “ I would really like to see the movie Dumbo, I grew up watching the original one and my sister and I would watch it together when we were little. So I am interested to see the non-animated one.”

If you are interested and love the Marvel movie series here is one that you may like.  Captain Marvel is another movie from the production of Marvel Studios, and is now part of the series. This movie is a fantasy/adventure movie, it is about a woman named Carol Danvers who becomes one of the universe’s most powerful hero’s when the Earth gets pulled into a galactic war between two alien races. This film is written and directed by Anna Boden and is directed by Ryan Fleck. This movie is being based off the comic books, and has many actresses and actors that you may recognize for example Brie Larson, Lee Pace, Jude Law, and Samuel L. Jackson. If you are a big Marvel fan you aren’t going to want to miss this film it premieres on March 8, 2019.

Another movie coming out this next year is in the genre of a thriller and has a unique name for what is it about. This movie is Glass, it is written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan. He brings some of his narratives together when he was creating this film. It is about a security guard named David Dunn and he uses his supernatural abilities that he poses to track Kevin Wendell Crumb, a disturbed man who has twenty-four different personalities. There are many actors that come together to make this film like James McAvoy, Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson, and Sarah Paulson. This film production comes out January 18, 2019.

The next film that is coming out in 2019 is an American fantasy/comedy film that is directed and written by Stephen Gaghan, and also written by Thomas Shepherd. This movie is mainly based off of the character Doctor Dolittle created by Hugh Lofting around the 1800’s. This variation is a new take and a different view of the adventures a physician has when he realizes that he can talk to animals. The cast are many familiar actors, and actresses we may know like Selena Gomez, Tom Holland, John Cena, and Robert Downey Jr. This movie has had a lot of time put into it, and if you think that you will be interested in seeing the film it premieres April 12, 2019. Rachell Bennett, a sophomore here at LCHS, said “ I really would like to see The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle because I grew up watching these movies, and I am interested in the actors, and actresses that are playing all the characters. I am excited to see this movie, and can’t wait ‘til it comes out”.  

Each one of these films are coming out around Spring or even sooner, it won’t be long until they hit the theaters to premiere in the big screen so whichever ones you were interested in save the date, and what until it is out and go watch them.
