American Idol in Coeur d’Alene

This October the very famous show, “American Idol” came  to Coeur d’Alene for second-round auditions. With celebrities Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, Ryan Seacrest, and Luke Bryan, our very own talented Idahoans auditioned for American Idol. Auditions were held two days earlier this week and the Coeur d’Alene High School band students got to perform for the stars’ arrival.

All four celebrities were very impressed with our small city and Katy Perry even commented, saying “Heaven on Earth!”. They all decide on how great each setting is that they set up at and so far, Coeur d’Alene is in the lead. Lionel also added that the contestants and the stars themselves were the calmest they’ve ever been; they even requested to do all of the shoot from the Hagadone Event Center. I think the calmness was a result of not having long lines pouring out of the building. Contestants had to take boats across the water to get to Hagadone Event Center and therefore big crowds were kept out. The auditions were not public and the episodes will be released sometime in 2019.

American Idol started in 2002 and ran up to 2016. The show was took off air after ratings dwindled. Just a little over a year ago, it aired again and it’s been more popular than ever. With stars with very different music taste and styles, they make a great team and draw attention. Katy, Lionel, Ryan, and Luke will all be returning for next year’s auditions too. I think it’s safe to say that having the opportunity to sing in front of these 4 stars is an opportunity of a lifetime. Our little city got so fortunate to host the second-round auditions of this sensational show and I am sure we left a great first impression on these stars.
