What is FCCLA you might ask? FCCLA is a program created that works with community service projects. FCCLA stands for Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America. FCCLA is the only in school organization that focuses mainly on family. The organization was formed on June 11, 1945 with the mission to promote personal growth and leadership development through family and consumer sciences. FCCLA has gone through many changes since it was first started; it’s original name was Future Homemakers of America and it merged with the New Homemakers of America, finally becoming FCCLA. This organization is not only a school program, but provides opportunities at a district, state, and national level; There are different activities within each section, but the main major competitive events are Family and Consumer Sciences Knowledge Bowl, STAR Events, and FCCLA Contests. FCCLA is a successful program that influences many lives of student all around the world.
