Instagram is a social network for sharing photos and videos. It allows you to apply filters to your photos and/or videos, and then share them with your “followers”, or friends who subscribe to your posts. Instagram became an official application/website on October 6th, 2010. It was created by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger and developed by Facebook. Instagram has gotten progressively more popular over the past 3 years with celebrities making accounts and sharing their photos. By December 2010, Instagram hit 1 million registered users. In June, Instagram had 5 million users, and successively passed 10 million in September the same year. By April in 2012 Instagram hit over 30 million users. Instagram was a nominee for “Best Mobile App” at the 2010 TechCrunch Awards. This app is also related to Pheed, Facebook, Flickr, Vine and more for sharing pictures and videos with your friends or family. Instagram is a very mobile app, meaning you can download it on your tablet, computer, or smartphone and take pictures/videos at any given time. The site has grown, and proved itself as a fun and fresh trend.
