Our very own science teacher, Jamie Esler, was recently named Idaho teacher of the year at a surprise assembly last Friday. After the announcement was made, students responded with cheers of “We love Esler!” He has been teaching here at Lake City for five years and was named Coeur d Alene’s teacher of the year last May. He is exceptional at what he does, and not only teaches science but also teaches his students how to apply these skills to the real world. Along with winning the Idaho teacher of the year award, Esler also received a check for $1,000 from the Idaho State Department of Education, an all paid trip to Washington D.C to represent Idaho as a nominee for National Teacher of the Year, and will have the opportunity to meet with President Obama.
